A fun fact about myself:
I am a high-spirited person —— a walking burst of energy. I can go from zero to a dance party in seconds turning the most ordinary moments into something fun. I can also be spontaneous——like saying yes to an adventure before asking “where we are going.” I thrive on good vibes, loud laughs, and keeping the energy high wherever I go.”
How I Met the Bride
Oluwaseyi and I have been friends for over 20 years, we met when we were both Junior level students at Federal Government Girls’ College, Efon Alaaye. I left for another school after Junior secondary school and somehow thought it was practically impossible to keep in touch since we didn’t have phones at the time. One of the sealing moments of our friendship for me was when Seyi sent me a picture of herself alongside a handwritten letter to me through a fellow student during an inter-school exchange program where we had students from their school over at mine. I didn’t understand the intentionality behind this, but I cherished it so much at the time.
How I met the groom
I met Dr Dee during Seyi’s Master’s graduation. It was a celebratory moment where I was so engrossed in dancing and urging everyone to do the same. I was able to urge Dr. Dee to join our dance so energetically as the assistant graduand at the time while Seyi was there telling everyone who cared to listen that I wouldn’t be done dancing anytime soon so they should “gear up”
A favorite or experience we’ve shared
Looking back, some of my best memories through various seasons of our lives have you right at the center of them. From our childhood/early adulthood memories of solving math exercises together, to suggesting we should fast & pray even at that young age, to exchanging pictures/handwritten letters inter-school, to hanging out at Tantalizers FUTA junction whenever I came home from school. Our adventures in Lagos —-oh mostly chaotic! from touring around Eko market and Seyi forcing us to buy the roadside puff puff even when I worried about it possibly not being clean enough, to attending weddings/parties together getting stuck in Lagos traffic and having to walk home practically on bare feet or share a pair of slippers because one of us won’t have a change of slippers, to you occasionally spending a part of my night shifts with me just because the hospital I worked was close to where we lived at the time. Now, as grown women, holding wholesome late-night conversations, sometimes difficult ones, disagreeing to agree, and atimes not even agreeing, understanding that two truths can coexist. Also, showing up for each other to celebrate memorable moments together, to Seyi threatening to “call me out” on Instagram whenever I’m not picking up my calls.
Our most recent vacation together where I forced us to go parasailing still has to be one of the craziest and most unforgettable things we’ve ever done! I still remember the rush of nerves as we got strapped in, me wanting to bolt out just as we were about to take off and you quickly reminding me that I’m the one that got us there in the first place, so I had to “cooperate”. Then the sudden lift into the sky—our screams quickly turning into laughter still laced with fear. The view from up there was breathtaking, but honestly, the best part was sharing that moment with you. From the shaky takeoff to our screams from above that we wanted to come down and no one could hear us. At that point we just resorted to the fact that we only had each other. It was pure chaos and pure joy—just like most of our adventures together. We’ve been through the silly, the serious, and everything in between—and I wouldn’t trade a second of it. Life’s just better with you by my side.”
A goodwill message for the couple
“To my dearest best girl, Oluwaseyi mii as I like to call you, watching you find someone who truly brings out the best in you gives me so much joy. To you both, Oluwaseyi and my new brother, Dimeji, it brings me so much happiness to see you both together, creating a bond built on love, trust, and friendship.” I pray your love story continues to grow stronger with each passing day. May your journey together be full of beautiful memories, unwavering support, and deep connection. May you both enjoy a lifetime filled with love, laughter, shared dreams, and unforgettable moments.
Here’s to forever—together.”
